On this date in 1981, The Times released their debut single, "Red With Purple Flashes". It was backed by "Biff, Bang, Pow". The B side appeared on their debut album, Pop Goes Art! The A side was a non-LP track. The London mod revivalist band was a side project from Edward Ball and Daniel Treacy of Television Personalities. The band lasted from 1980 until 1986 and then released some additional material in the late '80's.
